website for a steve on the go

In August of last year, I felt that God was calling me to leave YWAM Tyler between a year or two from then, which was a bit of a surprise.  After looking into options for the past year, I’ve decided to serve with International Students, Inc. in Santa Barbara, CA.

ISI wants to evangelize and disciple the thousands of college students who come to the US from overseas.  They're interested in ministering to the same age group that I am, have been praying for new staff to join them, and would like me to disciple students with them and use my administrative gifts to help them.  It's also interesting because I have been considering going overseas for some time, but wondering at how effective I'd be there. This seems like a great way to both minister cross-culturally while here in the US (having a big impact on people who will be leaders when they return to their countries), and it'll help with my discernment of foreign missions at the same time. It's an exciting opportunity!

Please be praying for me in all of this, that I would trust God to lead me and provide.  I left YWAM Tyler on October 4th, and am in Pittsburgh to fundraise for a month and a smidge (details on the Be Involved page).  Once I’ve raised the necessary money, I’ll move to Santa Barbara and start working with ISI!

The other big news is that I’m a boyfriend!  ...  I mean, I have a girlfriend. ☺

I was on eHarmony.com, and matched with a girl in Santa Barbara.  While emailing, it became obvious to both of us that we weren’t meant for each other.  After we agreed on that, she said that she thought that her best friend and I would be good for each other...  Since it was only one step weirder than what I was already doing, I decided to go for it!  We started emailing in January, talked on the phone for two months (not all one phone call!), and I went out to visit her on the first weekend of June, and we started dating then.

It’s been really amazing and a huge blessing from God, as I see Him involved in our relationship.  He’s so good!

For Lia’s birthday, a group of us went wine-tasting about an hour from Santa Barbara.

Life changes and a girlfriend
