About Us

We get to live in Santa Barbara and its beautiful weather through no talent of our own, but because we just followed God, and ended up here together. Lia came here for UCSB (University of California Santa Barbara), moved away for a couple years, and then came back for a job and to rejoin the church she’d been involved in during college.

Steve was already feeling like he was supposed to leave where he was, when he was matched with one of Lia’s friends on eHarmony. She and he agreed that they weren’t meant for each other, and then she suggested (with Lia’s approval) that “I think you’d be really good with a friend of mine here.” He took the bait (it was crazy, but he was already be matched by a computer, so not too much more so). After long-distance dating for a while, Steve moved to Santa Barbara to chase Lia and woo and wed her. And it worked.

Lia works part-time in accounting, and Steve works full-time (Lia volunteers) in international student ministry to university students from other countries. We want to befriend them in Christ’s name, lead them to follow Jesus, help them mature as Christians, and then send them home to reach their own people (they already speak the language, know the culture, and already have relationships with people there). It’s a great ministry and job!

We go to Community Covenant Church nearby, and assist leading a small group there, where many of our best friends are.

We also have an infant son, Joel, who is super cute, and growing so quickly. He’s a great child, really mellow and friendly. If he’d sleep through the night consistently, he’d be the perfect child. ☺
